Why do people with Bulimia or Anorexia keep their vomit?
Hi:
I was wondering my friends sister has had bulimia and anorexia for 34 years (ever since a friend of her said she was fat at the age of 18) and lately she has been noticing that her sister keeps her vomit in the refrigerator. Why? I recall a movie that I saw years ago on HBO (Ann Margret, i believe) where a girl in the movie does the same thing other than she keeps it in her closet. Do you have any ideas why she does this? (Also, you don’t need to comment on her getting help she is 52, she doesn’t want help) I just want to know why she keeps it?

I have heard of people keeping vomit in a closet or bedroom, but they aren’t generally keeping it, they are hiding it. I have never heard of someone storing vomit in the refrigerator. Perhaps it is a reminder or a “security blanket”. The only person who will most likely understand the reasoning is the person suffering from the eating disorder themselves.
