Convert 35mm Slides To Digital

How do I convert 35mm color slides to digital photos.?
Actually, most multi-function printers do not have a feature to scan slides to digital. You need a negative scanner in order to get the right colors without the transparency. Nikon makes some good ones, but they start around $600. Most top-end photo labs can also put them on CDs, or a camera store like Ritz/Wolf Camera (read: not Wal-Mart or any ordinary drug store) can scan them onto CD for you. If you plan on being able to print from these CDs later, you need to tell the lab to scan at the highest resolution possible. This will cost you more, though, so don’t be surprised if the higher resolution costs twice as much.
